Dayton v. Kennedy

Returning Senator Mark Dayton to the Ranks of the Idle Rich in 2006

Gonzales Confirmed AG, Dayton Confirmed Reactionary

Alberto Gonzales was sworn in as Attorney General yesterday evening, after confirmation in the Senate by a vote of 60-36. Only six Democrats voted to confirm him, and Minnesota’s senior Senator was certainly not among them.

According to an AP report published in the Star Tribune today, Senator Dayton said of Gonzales:

"This attitude that they're above the law, beyond the law ... is very dangerous to our democracy, and it's wrong. To put that person with that mentality as the chief law enforcement officer of all the people of the United States I think is a huge mistake."

Examination on the merits of Dayton’s “lawless” accusation of the new Attorney General is available here, here, here, and here.

One thing certainly seems clear about Senator Dayton’s voting pattern lately. If the president supports something, Senator Dayton will oppose it. A more thoughtful legislator would better serve Minnesota.
